Working across contexts

Culture is not a symptom—and no practitioner is the expert on your culture.

Meg brings experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and people who use English as an additional language or dialect. The work begins with curiosity about what matters to you, what your relationships require, where power sits, and how culture, faith, family and community shape both support and pressure.

Spirituality and tradition

Make room for beliefs, rituals, values and traditions without assuming they need to be discarded—or that every part must remain unchanged.

Family and community expectations

Explore obligation, loyalty, reputation, gender roles, caregiving, marriage, achievement and extended-family involvement with nuance rather than judgement.

Belonging across worlds

Work with migration, identity, language, racism, cultural dislocation and the exhausting task of translating yourself between family, workplace and wider society.

A culturally humble approach

Your meanings lead the work.

  • Meg will ask rather than assume
  • Family or community involvement is discussed with your consent
  • Spiritual and cultural strengths can be part of the work
  • Interpreters and other supports can be considered where appropriate
  • Individual counselling is not used to impose Western independence as the only goal
